Rodge was invited to the recent launch and recruitment drive of the Blood Bikes South in Cork on October 22nd.

Blood Bikes are becoming a highly visible emergency volunteer service that assists the HSE to achieve greater excellence through community participation. In this case by stepping up to assist through their passion for motorcycling and involvement in social / community projects.

PRO Seamus, of Cork’s Red FM, gave an overview of the process of getting established and the committment required to keep it rolling. Chairperson Declan outlined the role, function and requirements of riders, with Vice Chairperson Niall illustrating the expectations of RoSPA’s advanced level of motorcycle riding required.

RoSPA was represented by the two Irish national advanced examiners, who gave details of the obligation to increase rider skill through the ‘Police System of Motorcycle Control’.

Finally Rodge gave a brief presentation of what FBoS-ERS stands for and is achieving through its safety partnerships with MAG Ireland and PSNI BikeSafe. He also outlined what contributions FBoS-ERS providers have carried out at crash scenes over the past two years.

We now look forward to a new partnership with the Blood Bikes Organisation, in Ireland, Northern Ireland and the Rest of the UK!
